The University of Birmingham Law Review
The Law Review brings together the most passionate undergraduate and postgraduate law students and alumni of the University of Birmingham. It allows students to expand their academic endeavors by publishing both short- and long-form articles on legal principles, developments, and anything in between.
We are delighted to announce that the University of Birmingham Law Review has been restarted! As we begin a new chapter, we promise to provide you with new viewpoints, sophisticated legal analysis, and engaging discussions in our editions (alongside opportunities for you to be published in a peer-reviewed journal!).
This is what we have planned:
February & May: Short-Form Editions:
In February and May, we will release two dynamic short-form editions of the University of Birmingham Law Review. These editions will feature articles of around 1,000 words which will offer insights and diverse viewpoints on pertinent legal topics.
Submissions for 1st short-form edition close: 22.12.2023
June: Long-Form Editions:
This edition will consist of a collection of long-form essays, each ranging from 8,000 to 12,000 words. These essays will examine and thoroughly analyse complex legal issues to present critical perspectives built upon well-researched arguments.
Submissions for the 2nd short-form & for the long form edition close: 01.03.2024
Submission Guidelines
The University of Birmingham Law Review accepts articles and Case comments. A short-form article eligible for publication in our monthly edition should be around 1,000 words, but may also be longer. A long-form submission for a semestrial paper should be between 8,000 to 12,000 words. Case comments should not exceed 2,000 words. New cases are preferred, but comments demonstrating a new approach to an older case of importance are also welcome.
